About Rivky

IMPACT (noun)

ˈimˌpakt/

To have a strong effect on someone or something

Hey there! My name is Rivky Itzkowitz and I'm the new body positive cheerleader inside your head.

Welcome to my world, where I keep things fashionable, fun, and flirty, all while not showing much skin. I know that sounds like an oxymoron but to me those things have never been a contradiction. As a proud practicing Orthodox Jew, I’ve been dressing modestly my whole life. Which is coincidently the same amount of time I’ve been obsessed with all things fashion! I’m talking watch-every-single-minute-of-every-single-commentary-on-every-single-red-carpet-to-every-single-award-show-obsessed. As a kid, I would watch endless hours of runway shows and pour over pages and pages of my grandmother’s Vogue, Vanity Fair, and People magazines.

Red carpets and runways are not the usual go-to places for modest fashion inspiration, but for me they were everything. Because I did not see anyone who dressed like I did, I began to filter these images through my own modest lens. A strapless dress got layered, a short dress got lengthened and see-through pieces got lined, all in my head and sketches.

I always knew I would work in fashion in some form or another. My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10. I sewed and designed as a kid for years, attending classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology to learn the couture techniques I so admired. After high school I became a seamstress and dressmaker, specializing in alterations that make clothing more modest. Somewhere along the way I had an epiphany. There is absolutely no reason why I can’t create an amazing line that is already modest, flatters every body type, and is available in a wide range of sizes! I took my years of experience working with private clients, as well as in the wider fashion industry and began Impact Fashion with just that mission in mind.

I have always been frustrated by the size availability at most modest clothing stores. For the life of me I can't figure out why most modest clothing lines run small and stop at a size 14. As someone who has never been especially tiny I found it so frustrating to shop with brands whose clothing I loved but could never dream of fitting into. When I design my collection I design for real women with real bodies just like mine. If I don't feel comfortable in it, it doesn't make it into the collection. I believe very strongly that those who say they 'can't design for big girls' (insert longest eye roll here )  can't design. Designing inclusively is very easy, all you need to do is care enough to bother. I care very much and for that reason my collection will always be available in sizes 2-24, with custom sizing available for anyone who needs it.

We all know that modest does not need to mean matronly, and the easier it is to get dressed the more fun you end up having. You should be comfortable, sparkly, and feel like a boss every time you step out into the world. It is my pleasure to make that happen. Ultimately I believe this company is about so much more than just clothes, it’s a way we can all #beIMPACTful.

Welcome to my world, I’m so glad you’re here,
